This awesome chess board is constructed of Elm Briarwood and strong tempered Maple. The board itself is framed in Elm and is rimmed with tastefully understated gold-colored metal trim. The squares each have a generous 2" to accommodate a wide variety of chess pieces, making this a versatile board perfect for most sets. The elmwood frame around the playing area is slightly raised, giving the Medallion board a classical framed look and feel.
